Love God, Love Others
Returning to what matters most
Love God, Love Others.
Join us for a beautiful day of connection, renewal, and spiritual focus at our annual Women's Retreat.
In a world that often feels busy and overwhelming, this retreat is an invitation to return to what matters most. Centred on the simple and powerful teachings of Jesus Christ to love God and to love others, this day will offer uplifting messages, meaningful workshops, and moments of quiet reflection.
This year's retreat is the culmination of The Simplicity Experiment, an 8-week journey where women across the stake have intentionally focused on loving God, loving others, and noticing what happens. Together, we will explore the insights, stories, and lessons that emerged as women sought to simplify their discipleship and focus on what the Saviour taught matters most.
Whether you participated in the experiment or are joining us for the first time, you will find encouragement and practical inspiration to support you in your everyday discipleship.
Throughout the day, you'll enjoy music, interactive workshops, opportunities to connect with other women, and time to pause, reflect, and feel renewed. Workshops will cover a range of topics including personal worship, prayer, Christlike friendship, self-care, service, self-compassion, and finding God in everyday life.
All women are warmly invited. Come as you are, bring a friend, and leave feeling strengthened, uplifted, and inspired to continue the simple practice of loving God and loving others.
Love Yourself | Workshop 1
Simple Self Care Routines
Caring for ourselves doesn't need to be complicated or time-consuming. This workshop will explore simple, sustainable daily routines that support physical wellbeing and help women feel more rested, nourished, and energised. Participants will learn practical self-care habits that can be incorporated into everyday life and will have the opportunity to create one or two simple products to take home as a reminder to slow down, recharge, and care for themselves with kindness.
Seeing Yourself As God Sees You
Many women are quick to extend compassion to others while being deeply critical of themselves. This workshop will explore what it means to see ourselves through the lens of our divine nature and eternal worth. Through gospel principles, personal reflection, and practical tools for self-compassion, participants will be invited to replace self-judgment with greater grace, recognise their value as daughters of God, and develop a kinder, more Christlike relationship with themselves.
Love God | Workshop 2
The Gift of Stillness
Step away from the noise of everyday life and experience the restorative power of breath, meditation, and sound. This gentle workshop invites you to slow down, quiet your mind, and reconnect with a sense of peace and presence.
Through guided breathwork and a soothing sound journey, you'll be encouraged to relax deeply, release tension, and embrace the gift of stillness. No previous experience is necessary. Simply come as you are.
Leave feeling calm, refreshed, and renewed.
Rest Without Guilt
Many women find it easier to care for others than to give themselves permission to slow down and rest. This workshop will explore the spiritual, emotional, and physical value of rest and how creating space for renewal can strengthen our ability to serve, love, and disciple. Participants will be encouraged to let go of guilt, embrace healthy rhythms, and discover simple ways to find peace and restoration in everyday life.
Letting Go of Spiritual Perfectionism
Many women carry unnecessary pressure to do more, be more, and get everything right. This workshop will explore how to replace striving with trust, embrace the grace of Jesus Christ, and find greater peace and joy in discipleship without the weight of perfectionism.
Simplifying Your Personal Worship
In the midst of busy lives and competing demands, personal worship can sometimes feel overwhelming or inconsistent. This workshop will explore practical ways to create a simple, meaningful connection with God through prayer, scripture study, and daily devotion that feels sustainable and life-giving rather than burdensome.
Love Others | Workshop 3
Everyday Prayer that Feels Real
Prayer is one of the simplest ways we connect with God, yet it can sometimes feel routine, rushed, or difficult. This workshop will explore how to develop a more authentic and meaningful prayer life by bringing our real thoughts, feelings, questions, and experiences to Heavenly Father. Participants will discover practical ways to make prayer a natural part of everyday life and strengthen their personal relationship with God through sincere and heartfelt communication.
Scripture Journaling
Scripture study can become more meaningful when we take time to slow down, notice, and reflect. This workshop will introduce simple approaches to scripture journaling that help participants engage more deeply with God's word and recognise personal insights and promptings. Whether you're new to journaling or have been doing it for years, you'll discover practical ways to make scripture study more personal, creative, and spiritually enriching.
Small Acts, Big Impact - Service
Simple acts of love and service often have a greater impact than we realise. This workshop will encourage women to recognise everyday opportunities to bless others through small, intentional actions and discover how simple acts of kindness can strengthen relationships and build community. As part of the workshop, participants will work together to assemble birthing kits for mothers in developing countries, providing a practical opportunity to serve and reflect on how small acts of compassion can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Workshops
Loving Difficult People
Loving others can be challenging, particularly when relationships are strained or complicated. This workshop will explore how to show Christlike love while maintaining healthy boundaries, navigating conflict with grace, and preserving emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
Christlike Friendship
One of the simplest ways we can love others is through meaningful friendship. This workshop will explore how we can cultivate Christlike friendship through kindness, inclusion, empathy, and genuine connection. Participants will be encouraged to consider simple ways to strengthen relationships, help others feel seen and valued, and create a greater sense of belonging in their families, wards, and communities.
Building Community in Small Ways
Strong communities are built through small, consistent acts of kindness, inclusion, and connection. This workshop will explore simple ways to help others feel seen, valued, and welcome in our families, wards, workplaces, and neighbourhoods. Participants will be encouraged to consider how small efforts to reach out, listen, and connect can strengthen relationships and create a greater sense of belonging for those around them.
“Following Christ doesn’t have to be complicated. Not by adding more to already busy lives, but by paying closer attention to the things that matter most.”
